Chloramphenicol Loaded Sponges Based on PVA/Nanocellulose Nanocomposites for Topical Wound Delivery

نویسندگان

چکیده

In the present study, polymer sponges based on poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) were prepared for topical wound administration of chloramphenicol (CHL), an antibiotic widely used to treat bacterial infections. Nanocellulose fibrils (CNF) homogenously dispersed in PVA three different ratios (2.5, 5, and 10 wt %) improve mechanical properties neat sponges. Infrared spectroscopy showed hydrogen bond formation between CNF PVA, while scanning electron microscopy photos verified successful dispersion The addition successfully enhanced sponges, exhibiting higher compressive strength as content increased. sponge containing % CNF, due its compression strength, was further studied a matrix CHL delivery 10, 20, 30 concentration drug. X-ray diffraction that encapsulated amorphous state 20 samples, some crystallinity observed ratio. vitro dissolution studies solubility after incorporation PVA/10 Release profiles controlled release lasting days sample 1.5 other two samples. According modelling, is driven by pseudo-Fickian diffusion.

Highly Electrically Conductive Nanocomposites Based on PolymerInfused Graphene Sponges

Conductive polymer composites require a three-dimensional 3D network to impart electrical conductivity. A general method that is applicable to most polymers for achieving a desirable graphene 3D network is still a challenge. We have developed a facile technique to fabricate highly electrical conductive composite using vacuum-assisted infusion of epoxy into graphene sponge GS scaffold. Macroscop...

Alginate-Based Composite Sponges as Gastroretentive Carriers for Curcumin-Loaded Self-Microemulsifying Drug Delivery Systems

Alginate-based composite sponges were developed as carriers to prolong the gastric retention time and controlled release of curcumin-loaded self-microemulsifying drug delivery systems (Cur-SMEDDS). Liquid Cur-SMEDDS was incorporated into a solution made up of a mixture of polymers and converted into a solid form by freeze-drying. The ratio of alginate as the main polymer, adsorbent (colloidal s...

Topical chloramphenicol for eye infections.

Topical chloramphenicol has been widely used in the treatment and prevention of superficial eye infections due to its broad spectrum of activity and low cost. The use of this drug has decreased considerably in the United States since the first case of aplastic anaemia associated with topical chloramphenicol was reported in the 1960s. This medication, however, is still widely used in many other ...

Topical chloramphenicol : have GPs

Sir, An editorial in the British Medical Journal (BMJ)1 on the use of chloramphenicol eye drops suggested that the risks of topical chloramphenicol were sufficient to warrant practitioners to prescribe an alternative, such as Framycetin or Fucidic Acid. We sent a postal questionnaire to 664 general practitioners (GPs) in the areas of Leeds, Guildford, and Cambridge to ascertain the influence th...

Design, characterization, and biological evaluation of curcumin-loaded surfactant-based systems for topical drug delivery

From previous studies, it has been found that curcumin exhibits an anti-inflammatory activity and is being used for the treatment of skin disorders; however, it is hydrophobic and has weak penetrating ability, resulting in poor drug transport through the stratum corneum. The aim of this study was to develop liquid crystalline systems for topical administration of curcumin for the treatment of i...
